The CCE (Course Croisière EDHEC), the largest student event in France, even in Europe, is completely transforming for its 2023 edition. The objective? Address issues related to sustainable development and social responsibility to create a cleaner and more inclusive event.
From April 14 to 23, THE largest student sporting event in Europe will take place in Brest: the EDHEC Cruise Race. A student regatta which highlights professional and amateur skippers, like Armel Le Cléac’h and Arnaud Boissières. And for this 55eedition, the CCE is completely reinventing itself to place CSR at the heart of the event which will bring together 110 boats and 2,000 participants.
Alongside the events, the EDHEC Cruise Race will use its sports village to create, innovate and discuss topics related to inclusion, sustainable development, marine biodiversity, etc. The village will also be equipped with dry toilets, of a system for recovering cigarette butts and cooking oils, and will pay attention to the production of waste.
For Héloïse Berte and Justine Jankovic, co-presidents of the 55e edition of the EDHEC Cruise Race, this year will be truly special in the messages conveyed to participants. “ The EDHEC Cruise Course has set itself the mission of making its sports village a place for sharing knowledge and experiences! (…) As a sporting event, it is our duty to use our strength to unite around messages that are important to us. »
Inclusion, the flagship of the 2023 edition of the EDHEC Cruise Race
In addition to topics related to sustainable development, inclusion will also be at the heart of the 55e CEC edition. Indeed, the sponsor of the 2023 edition, Louis Duc, skipper of the Imoca Fives-Lantana Environnement, will contribute to a set of operations, like Pass the sailwhich should allow 18 children with disabilities to enjoy a sea trip on an adapted boat. The CCE will also make a boat available to the Cheer’Up association. This will thus be able to accompany adults in remission from cancer at sea. A grant will also be awarded to Handi’Valid, with the support of Sopra Steria Mission Handicap.
Inclusion also involves the links forged with the territory and the CCE is committed to creating a global event that contributes to the economic development of the host city. Thanks to the sporting challenge The Little Brestois68 children from Brest (including 18 “children of the ball”) will be able to discover navigation. In addition, the EDHEC Cruise Course strives to promote short circuits and cooperation with local associations and producers.
For Anne Zuccarelli, director of student experience at EDHEC, the CCE 2023 is much more than just a regatta. “ The EDHEC Cruise Course is enriched by an educational and civic mission serving the preservation of ecosystems and the revitalization of territories. (…) From now on, the first student sporting event in Europe will constitute a real highlight in raising young people’s awareness of social and environmental issues. »
