ARPEJ opened 1,265 new accommodations for students and young workers in 2022. The accommodations distributed in 8 residences are located in Bezons, Cergy, Noisiel, Paris 19, Suresnes, Saint-Ouen, La Garenne-Colombes and Metz. Through this project, ARPEJ wishes to improve their housing and living conditions. Zoom on this project.
With its new accommodation for students and young workers, ARPEJ wishes to support those who do not necessarily have the means to find accommodation, especially in the Paris region where costs are quite high. Each ARPEJ apartment has a sleeping area, a living space with office, a kitchenette, bathroom and plenty of storage space. The price of renting an apartment includes the rent as well as charges, internet connection and access to many common services such as wash and go, life place, bike place, workplaceetc. Thus, the tenant pays a fixed monthly fee for fully equipped accommodation.
In addition, young tenants benefit from support from the ARPEJ in all their administrative procedures, but not only that. For good reason, the ARPEJ supports young people on diverse and varied themes such as employment, health and even nutrition. So, between the 1er July 2021 and June 30, 2022, more than 5,000 young people benefited from support related to these issues. 610 meals, 1,000 food packages and hygiene products and more than €1,500 in emergency food aid were provided.
“At a time when the young population is struggling to find housing, access to housing is a vital issue that is close to our hearts. We are committed to opening 700 homes per year, and between 2023 and 2025, we will have nearly 2,500 additional homes in 24 new residences in Île-de-France and the region. I would add that access to housing is not everything: at ARPEJ, we are convinced that there is a strong link between housing and the achievement of young people. To this end, we continue to develop a number of services and partnerships that promote social connection and the well-being of our residents, such as shared gardens.explains Anne Gobin, CEO of ARPEJ.
Student accommodation focused on biodiversity
Based on the principle that introduction to biodiversity is a fantastic tool for cohesion and social openness among young people, the ARPEJ offers shared gardens in its various residences. Thus, in 2022, ARPEJ established 3 new gardens in the residences of Noisiel, Meudon and Valenton. From now on, 13 ARPEJ residences offer introductory spaces to biodiversity with the aim of promoting the well-being of its tenants. In addition, ARPEJ also installed 3 hives, or 150,000 bees among the trees in the Infanti gardens, in partnership with Api Environnement. The establishment also offers monthly entertainment for residents.
