Sami announces fundraising of 3.8 million euros

Sami, the French startup which has developed a climate platform for companies and carbon consultants to enable them to measure, reduce and contribute to global carbon neutrality, recently announced a fundraising of 3.8 million ‘euros. We spoke with Tanguy Robert, co-founder of Sami, to learn more about the ambitions of this startup.

Everything you need to know about Sami

Who are you ?

My name is Tanguy Robert, I am the co-founder of the Sami platform. I studied at Sciences Po and obtained a master’s degree in business law. After starting my career in law (law firms), I decided to join the world of Tech and entrepreneurship by joining Legalstart as its first employee in 2015. After 5 years and taking ecological awareness, I decided to launch Sami with Nicolas Crestin in order to help as many companies as possible reduce their emissions.

What is Sami doing?

Sami is the first climate platform for companies and carbon consultants. Our technological platform makes it possible to facilitate environmental action by companies on a large scale thanks to 4 technological building blocks:

  • Measure
  • Reduction
  • Contribution
  • Communication

Here are some key figures:

  • More than 3 million tonnes of CO2 managed on our platform
  • More than 400 clients (Doctolib, Michel et Augustin, 20 Minutes, etc.)
  • More than 40 external consultants on our platform (launch December 2022)
  • 200 carbon experts who work to improve the practice of carbon accounting via our Open Carbon Practice community and its practical guide (The General Carbon Plan)

Sami’s fundraising

Why did you raise 3.8 million euros?

We raised funds with the aim of recruiting (salespeople, developers, carbon experts, marketing, etc.), but also of developing our offer for carbon consultants (Sami pro) as well as to internationalize in particular in England and Belgium.

Why did you choose to bring these investors into your capital?

Sami chose to bring Financière Sextant, Financière Chevrillon, as well as business angels into its capital.

We wanted to bring on board as many investors as possible during our 2022 financing round, with around forty business angels specializing in impact themes (Frédéric Utzmann, Coline Debayle, Thibault Lamarque, Clément Alteresco) and family offices who are also moving towards the subject of decarbonization. Finally, we were keen to make our fundraising a collective adventure. This is why a third of the financing was carried out via the crowdfunding platform Tudigo, with more than 220 investors involved.

What will Sami look like in 5 years?

In 5 years, we hope that Sami will increase the environmental action of thousands of companies around the world. We want Sami to become one of the European leaders in environmental impact measurement and reduction software to have the greatest possible positive impact.
