JC Pieri is a photographer, a director, an influencer, but also an entrepreneur who is successful on Instagram and YouTube. Between his BMX videos, his documentaries in Madagascar or Namibia and the development of his training, he took the time to answer our questions for a new issue of So Biz. He reveals his daily life as a YouTuber, director and influencer, activities which are similar to those of an entrepreneur.
Are photographers, directors and influencers entrepreneurs like any other? Development of the activity, search for customers and financing… The activity of these creators is very similar to that of startupers.
JC Pieri is a good example. While he started photography and video at the age of 14, he became a professional and today makes a living from his passion. He developed his activity and found alternative sources of financing, notably thanks to his training which today allows him to produce his documentaries. He reveals how he was able to free himself from projects with low added value to concentrate on subjects that were really close to his heart. More than a director, he even runs a small business and employs several people who work with him on his projects.
The journey of JC Pieri
JC Pieri did not intend to pursue photography, but wanted to work as an asset management advisor. After a stint in business school and some professional experience in the industry, he quickly realized that this job was not at all for him.
In this issue of So Biz, he looks back on this experience, his beginnings and the way in which he made a place for himself in the industry and with which he was able to stand out. He also talks about his projects, his training, his iconic documentary on Madagascar, but also the many countries he was able to visit thanks to his activity. Finally, he talks about the pandemic and its impact on his work, as well as the many projects he is currently working on and which he wishes to develop in the coming months.
