On this Blue Monday, supposedly the most depressing day of the year, a question arises: what about the mental health of students? To best support this audience, the Nightline association has created a (sur)vival kit and is putting in place a whole support system.
Is the mental health of students deteriorating? The answer is yes, according to a survey carried out at the end of 2021. That year, 36.6% of students claimed to have depressive symptoms. They were 20.1% in the general population. It must be said that higher education students are more affected by phenomena such as stress, insecurity, loneliness, etc.
Nightline: a helpline dedicated to students
Nightline is an association that supports students in psychological distress. Over the 2021-2022 academic year, the organization has also recorded an increase in the number of messages and calls sent by higher education students with a total of 13,000 contacts.
The association has in fact opened a listening service which is 100% free and confidential. It is open from 9 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. every evening. Several numbers exist depending on your location. If you study in Paris, the dedicated line is 01 88 32 12 32. Here are the other numbers:

The Nightline student (sur)life kit
In addition to its listening numbers, Nightline has also implemented a student (sur)life kit which also includes many resources to support you if you need help. There you will find: tools to support your friends in distress, a dictionary to understand everything about mental health and professionals in the sector, but also a platform that allows you to analyze your state of health, as well as a set of actions to take to treat yourself and hope to get better.
