Jean-Pierre Bourhis is a student at INSA Rennes, but also a double degree at Rennes School of Business. In addition to his student life, he is also a high-level canoe-kayak athlete. He was selected to participate in the Tokyo Olympics this summer. Focus on his journey.
Jean-Pierre Bourhis is a 23-year-old student. He has dual French-Senegalese nationality. He studied mechanical and automatic engineering at INSA Rennes, an engineering school. He is also pursuing a double degree at Rennes School of Business where he specializes in entrepreneurship and innovation.
Jean-Pierre Bourhis’s love affair with canoeing began when he was 8 years old. Fifteen years later, he realized his dream of being selected for the Tokyo Olympic Games which will take place this summer. He will represent Senegal there.
The sporting and academic career of Jean-Pierre Bourhis

He began his studies in 2012, with a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering and Production, at the University of Rennes I. In 2015, he then joined INSA Rennes from which he will graduate this year. In September 2020, he joined Rennes SB for a double degree.
At the same time, Jean-Pierre Bourhis does not abandon his passion for canoeing and continues to compete at high levels. It arrives 18e at the Rio Olympics, in 2016 and 7e at the 2015 Rio pre-Olympics. At the under-23 world championships, he reached 28e place in 2014 and 8e place in 2016. At the senior world championships in Rio in 2018, he placed 31e. At the La Seu d’Urgell Canoe Slalom World Cup in 2018, he placed 23e.
Today, he is looking to finance his preparatory canoe-kayak course before the Tokyo Olympics, which will take place from July 7 to 19. He has just launched a campaign of crowdfunding on gofundme.
