Employment: 4.5 million recruitments planned in France between 2022 and 2023

Employment: 4.5 million recruitments planned in France between 2022 and 2023

Adecco Analytics recently revealed its recruitment forecasts for the end of 2022 and the beginning of 2023 (i.e. the next 12 months). They estimate that nearly 4.5 million jobs will be created in France, particularly in so-called “shortage” professions.

Among the 4.5 million recruitments estimated in France for the coming year, almost 2 million positions are planned on permanent (43%) and fixed-term contracts (30%). The younger generations are not left out, Adecco estimates that 328,000 internship and work-study contract opportunities will be available.

The temporary employment sector represents around 19% of planned recruitments. Although many sectors are announced as actively looking for candidates, employers find themselves faced with a shortage of talent.

4.5 million recruitments in France: the most promising professions

The Pôle Emploi Operational Directory of Professions and Jobs (ROME) repository contains 532 different professions, among the first 20, 1.8 million recruitments are planned, i.e. 39% of forecasts. However, 17 of these 20 professions are functions in sectors of activity facing a severe shortage of candidates.

Unsurprisingly, the Île-de-France region is undoubtedly the one where the greatest number of job opportunities are available. It alone represents 1 million anticipated recruitments over the coming year.

A shortage of candidates

Catering and logistics are the two sectors of activity planning the most hiring. Among the five most sought-after professions in France, three are related to catering. The demand for servers almost exceeds 200,000 recruitments. Catering alone represents 500,000 potential jobs. However, restaurateurs are struggling to find shoes that fit them. Logistics is also struggling to recruit, despite its high demand for warehouse workers and order pickers. Distribution professions and health professions are faced with the same problem. Most of the time, these are professions that are shunned because of the pace of work, the remuneration or the arduousness of the missions.

Two main lessons from this 2022-2023 edition of the Barometer. On the one hand, catering needs are exploding. 3 professions are now in the TOP 5 with the strongest hiring forecasts for the coming year. On the other hand and more expectedly, Ile-de-France is the region which will hire the most, providing more than 20% of offers alone. However, we observe that all employment areas are dynamic at the national level. Recruitment difficulties will be a reality for the vast majority of companies in France », explained the President ofAdecco Group in France, Alexandre Viros.
