After a 2020 edition canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic which forced countries to re-confine themselves, the Challenge Ecricome team had to interrupt the organization of the event in 2021 for the same reasons. A look back at this sad announcement for the student association world.
Faced with the uncertainty that remains regarding the health situation, many student associations are forced to cancel the events which punctuate the year for all business school students. A few weeks ago, we learned of the cancellation of the EDHEC Cruise Race, it is now the turn of the Ecricome Challenge 2021 to announce this bad news.
The reasons for the cancellation of the Ecricome Challenge 2021
The Ecricome Challenge is a sporting competition which brings together students from EM Strasbourg, KEDGE Marseille and Bordeaux, NEOMA Reims and Rouen and Rennes School of Business. Teams made up of students from each of the Ecricome bank’s member business schools compete in eight sporting events over three days: athletics, basketball, cheerleading, football, handball, rugby, tennis, volleyball.
On February 4, the Challenge Ecricome team announced on his website that the 2021 edition would not be held. In question? Still the health crisis which had already pushed the event to be canceled in 2020. While this sporting challenge was to be held between April 2 and 5, 2021, the organizers had to give in in the face of the still uncertain epidemic situation. “ It is with a heavy heart that we are forced, by the current health crisis, to announce the cancellation of the 2021 edition of the Ecricome Challenge. The various solutions and postponements that we have studied are not currently a possibility as the evolution of the situation is uncertain. This decision was ratified by the General Assembly of the association which took place this Thursday, February 4, 2021 by videoconference », Regrets the organizing team via press release, taking the opportunity to thank all the partners involved in the Ecricome Challenge.
