Evan Fournier, a student in the Global BBA at emlyon, has just distinguished himself at the Tokyo Olympic Games with the French basketball team. Indeed, the latter has just won the silver medal against the United States. Focus on the journey of this high-level athlete.
Another silver medal for a Grande École student! This time, we owe it to Evan Fournier, member of the French basketball team and student at emlyon business school. The Blues unfortunately lost to the United States after winning the semi-finals against Slovenia. This silver medal allows France to establish itself as one of the best nations at the Tokyo Olympics. It also allows emlyon to move up in the ranking of medals obtained by students and graduates of business schools.
Evan Fournier’s sporting journey
Evan Fournier was born in 1992 in Saint-Maurice, in Val-de-Marne. He grew up in an environment where sport was very important since both his parents are high-level judokas. They met at INSEP, the establishment which trains the best French athletes.
It was in 2000, at the age of eight, that Evan Fournier became interested in basketball by signing his first license in Val-de-Marne. Between 2007 and 2009, he began to give more importance to this sport and decided to follow training at INSEP. In 2009, he joined Nanterre 92 (formerly known as Jeunesse sportif des Fontenelles de Nanterre), a club which plays in Pro B. He was even elected best young player in the Pro B championship.
In 2010, Evan Fournier took the plunge and joined the first division with Union Poitiers Basket 86. Two years later, he left for the United States. Evan Fournier will play in the NBA for the Denver Nuggets until 2014. It was that year that he joined the Orlando Magic. He will stay there until 2021. He will spend a few months with the Boston Celtics in 2021 before joining the New York Knicks. He signed a four-year contract with them for $78 million.
The academic career of Evan Fournier, emlyon student
Evan Fournier did not trade his studies for his sport. Quite the contrary! The person who trained at INSEP decided not to stop at the baccalaureate and to continue in higher education. He chose business school and is training at emlyon business school. The basketball player is currently following the Global BBA program in high-level track sports.
