Angelaw, the French startup which offers contract management software for startups and SMEs, has just announced the completion of a fundraising of 1.5 million euros. We spoke with Pierre Marchès, CEO of Angelaw, to learn more about his journey and the ambitions of this startup.
Everything you need to know about Angelaw
Who are you ?
My name is Pierre Marchès, I am 35 years old and I am the happy father of a 9 month old little boy. After studying law, finance, then an Executive MBA at ESCP, I worked for a dozen years in legal management then general management within ETIs and large groups (Airbus, Areva, LVMH, etc. ), before beginning an entrepreneurial journey, first by creating a consulting firm, then a startup that helps SMEs identify and win public contracts, before co-founding Angelaw.
In the end, I have been working with the contracts that make up the daily life of companies for 15 years (NDA, employment contracts, calls for tenders, suppliers, customers, corporate, etc.) and still take great pleasure in comparing practices and points of view in order to bring the best contracts to the companies I support.
What does Angelaw do?
Angelaw is the contract assistant I would have dreamed of having when I was handling contracts for the companies I worked for! A tool which makes it possible to automate tasks with low added value, which provides real-time assistance to better negotiate and which empowers each employee of the company in order to no longer waste time on time-consuming activities and have time to create value.
We launched a beta last week which already brings together more than 70 companies! In a few days, more than 500 contracts were imported onto the platform and more than 150 contracts were generated, which is a good start.

Why did you raise 1.5 million euros?
We have two main objectives for 2023, the first is of course to market the solution to as many customers as possible to ensure the sustainability and profitability of Angelaw and the second is to go ever further in terms of artificial intelligence to improve our generative AI model which should make it possible to generate and negotiate personalized contracts, based on a given situation and parameters (context, type of co-contractor, objectives, etc.).
Why did you choose to bring these investors into your capital?
To be exact, it was rather the business angels of August Debouzy and 321 Founded who chose me, since these two key players are at the initiative of Angelaw. Thus, beyond a capital association that makes sense, Angelaw is the best possible team to carry out this project: the contractual expertise of one of the largest business law firms in France, the know-how of the first corporate startup studio and the experience of a serial entrepreneur who has experienced a dozen corporate legal departments.
What will Angelaw look like in 5 years?
The essential contracts assistant for all startups and SMEs, quite simply!
