2023 is marked by the second edition of the Amazon Sustainability Accelerator, a system which aims to find and support startups working in sustainable development, and more particularly recycling. Startups have until March 17 to apply.
In 2022, Amazon launched a system called the Amazon Sustainability Accelerator. His goal? Highlight startups that participate in society’s ecological transition. Open to all young start-ups in Europe, nearly 1,300 applications were received last year for 12 winners. Supported by Amazon, these startups saw their turnover jump by 250% on average and managed to raise a total of 5 million euros.

The Amazon Sustainability Accelerator is a program which, as its name suggests, allows entrepreneurs to accelerate the development of their projects. Focused on initiatives linked to ecological transition and sustainable development, it offers 12 weeks of tailor-made support through workshops, personalized mentoring and access to a network of business creators. It is mainly aimed at young start-ups who are just starting out.
In addition to the impact of the projects carried out, the Amazon Sustainability Accelerator also allows companies to become aware of their environmental footprint, measure its impact and find solutions to improve their carbon emissions. Project leaders also have access to AWS credits and can benefit from free spaces. The Amazon Sustainability Accelerator is supported by Amazon and EIT Climate-KIC.
Amazon launches season 2 of the Sustainability Accelerator
In season 2, Amazon will focus on startups that operate in the world of recycling or offer consumer products that allow everyone to lead a less polluting life. In the first case, the firm is primarily looking for young start-ups “ proposing promising technologies likely to help the recycling sector move up a gear, in particular new technologies offering solutions to currently unresolved recycling problems or which considerably improve existing tools. »
For Frédéric Duval, DG France of Amazon, this program is mainly aimed at entrepreneurs who aim to change the world. “ We want to support entrepreneurs committed to sustainable development, ready to develop their business and revolutionize their sector. The accelerator is open to entrepreneurs from across Europe and I will be delighted to see French innovation and talent represented among the shortlisted candidates. »
This year, in addition to the support offered by the Amazon Sustainability Accelerator, participating startups will be entitled to a grant of 12,000 euros and $25,000 in AWS Activate credits, in addition to free access to offices in the Amazon premises in London and Berlin, access to the Amazon Launchpad for one year, as well as a large network of investors and business angels. Applications are open and you can apply on the Amazon website until March 17, 2023.
