A look back at the 4th edition of the IÉSEG Conseil CSR Challenge

This Friday, February 17, IÉSEG Conseil organized the 4e edition of its RSE Challenge, a pitch competition which highlights entrepreneurial projects evolving around subjects linked to sustainable development or social commitment. Focus on the event and its winners.

Students from Grandes Écoles of business and engineering are increasingly aware and sensitive to subjects related to CSR. Now, many people are entering this world with startups offering services or innovations that will shake up our daily lives and our consumption habits.

The CSR challenge of IÉSEG Conseil

February 2023 marked the return of the CSR Challenge for a 4e edition. It is not organized by an IÉSEG sustainable development association or by its entrepreneurial association, but by the Junior Enterprise: IÉSEG Conseil. “ We are an JE, but we are also a non-profit association which aims to promote these projects. A Junior Entrepreneur is above all a committed student and we are happy to promote these startups. It is also a subject linked to our JE since we place CSR at the heart of our commercial activity and our culture”, explains Océane Tomietto, VP and Secretary General of IÉSEG Conseil Lilleand co-organizer of the 2023 CSR Challenge.

After sending the files and the selection stage by the JE with some partners from Lille Métropole (MEL) and local incubators, six startups are selected to come and pitch their project, for 5 to 7 minutes. The prizes are prices ranging from €500 to €2,000. Candidates must therefore master both their subject and the art of public speaking, also explaining why they need these funds and the stages of development of their project for the years to come.

This year, the jury was made up of Marie-Hélène Foubet, representative of MEDEF and the Alliance, Simon Lucette, graduate of IÉSEG and consultant at EY, Maxime Judczye, head of the BNP Paribas Lille Grand Place agency and president of the jury, a member of our media, Business Cool, and Philippe Bocquet, representative of IÉSEG. A second jury composed of two MEL employees (Josselin Glorieux and Sylvain Witkwoski) was also present to award a dedicated prize.

The startups and winners of the 4e edition of the CSR Challenge

The 4e edition of the IÉSEG Conseil CSR Challenge was supported by some very good projects. One objective for these entrepreneurs: save our wallets or the planet. While not everyone came away a winner, the six startups all carry projects linked to current issues, whether economic or environmental. Here is the list of young startups who came to pitch to our jury:

  • Kaylo (Yasmine & Anthony – IOGS): a startup which develops an application allowing you to identify the price of the same product in several supermarkets around your home. Thus, this app allows you to select a shopping basket and go to the grocer who offers the least expensive products.
  • Waterdam (Antoine – Junia): a startup at the origin of a clever system which allows water to be blocked at window level in the event of flooding.
  • Usave (Lukas – IAE Lille): a startup that designed TooGoodToGo for non-food products. In just a few clicks, from March onwards, you will be able to collect unsold items from major brands, whether diapers or televisions.
  • Illicogreen (Matéo – Web School Factory): a startup behind a website that offers discounts on products from committed brands, such as HappyVore. The site also offers some articles to support you on the path to your environmental commitment.
  • Réutec (Pierre & Baptiste – IÉSEG/ICAM): a startup which has created tailor-made and reusable packaging intended to replace cardboard boxes for sending parcels.
  • Poguisurf (Paul & Clément – ICAM/ITEEM): a young crop of surfing enthusiasts who wish to invent more durable foam boards for beginner surfers.

Usave won the MEL prize and the public prize. The project was very popular, both for the quality of the pitch and for the idea, the development of which is already well advanced. In addition, with Usave, Lukas Liénard has already surrounded himself with many major partners such as the Carrefour group. Réutec won the jury prize and the associated €2,000. Once again, what made the difference was the quality of the pitch and the mastery of the subject by Pierre Malbranque and Baptiste Péru.
